who was in trouble with the government for running a lemonade stand without proper licenses and permits.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Well they aren\u2019t done yet.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The latest in craziness from Washington is in the form of a Department of Labor regulation regarding children of farmers doing chores on the farm.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Growing up in a rural state and on a farm teaches children incredible lessons.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Interacting with nature and watching the earth bring forth its bounty, working with and caring for animals teaches responsibility and respect for God\u2019s creatures.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Doing chores teaches the value of work as well as the sense of accomplishment.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It teaches teamwork, cooperation and valuable skills which are sought after in the job market.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Not all of us live on farms but by having our children help with gardening and yard<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>work, washing dishes, cleaning and helping around the house can teach valuable lessons of responsibility and give our children a sense of accomplishment, value and ownership.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It takes time and effort to work with our children, training and teaching skills.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>But it is not abuse.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Not teaching working with our children and teaching these valuable lessons borders on neglect.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Work is a wonderful thing.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Ben Stein had it right.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>North Dakota has been richly blessed with energy resources as well s some of the most rich and productive land on the planet.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We top the nation and the world in the production of many agricultural commodities.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>But far and away our most valuable resource is our children.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>They are our future.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We can be proud of them.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Who would know better how to raise them than us?<\/p><p class=\"p2\">RIGHT TO LIFE:<\/p><p class=\"p2\">Life is precious at every stage.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Unborn, born or elderly.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I am solidly pro-life.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I believe that life begins at conception.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I oppose any government funding of abortion services and have pledged to vote against any state funds for abortion.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I will oppose any attempt of the government to diminish peoples value based on age or physical or mental capabililties.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STATES
